They Thought It Was a Good Idea

Aye, Mateys, we’re getting closer. The foredeck has been cleaned and swabbed. Now to swap the aft deck. The next bilgewater we’re going to throw over the deck concerns some questionable ideas:
- They Thought It Was a Good Idea, Take I. Playbill has a wonderful article imagining the most unexpected musicals for Broadway, especially in the light of the upcoming Spongebob Squarepants musical. Here are some examples: Cats and Thundercats, ALW’s sequel to Cats; Harrison, the hip-hop sequel to Hamilton that celebrates our 9th President; American Horror Story: Broadway; and Cosmos: The Musical by Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
- They Thought It Was a Good Idea, Take II. The team behind Into the Woods is making a new Mary Poppins musical that tells new stories, and has music by the team behind Hairspray. Should be interesting, but can it capture the magic.
- They Thought It Was a Good Idea, Take III. Reports are surfacing that beer giants AB InBev (Budweiser) and SB Miller (Miller) are getting hitched. Now I don’t drink that bilgewater that passes itself off as beer (grog’s me drink); if I did, I’d be worried about what they’ll be pissing into the can in the future.
Music: Piano Ragtime with The Dukes of Dixieland: “Bugle Call Rag” (The Dukes of Dixieland)
